Columbus McKinnon Engineered Products is now supplying Pfaff-silberblau HEK10.1 lifting units as standard equipment to KUKA for integration into the KMP 1500 Mobile Platform. The lifting unit is a special development according to DIN EN 1494:2009-05 and EN 1570-1:2011+A1:2014 "Safety requirements for lifting tables" specifically for this automated guided vehicle, which moves around autonomously. With a lifting capacity of 10 kN per lifting unit, large loads can be moved around very flexibly on the small, manoeuvrable platform and moved vertically at speeds of 50 mm/s over a lifting path of 200 mm. Thanks to its two lifting units, the KMP 1500 transports loads weighing up to 1.5 tonnes safely through production and warehouses.

The OEM of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) discovered that linear actuators used in the design of their AGVs were wearing out sooner than expected. Columbus McKinnon was able to replace the previous actuator with the Duff-Norton brand LT50-2-50 linear actuator, a long-lasting micro limit switch actuator.
To help solve an ergonomic problem they were encountering on their assembly line, a large automotive OEM approached Columbus McKinnon’s Unified Industries and our Channel Partner for assistance. At the facility, employees working at the customer’s final assembly unload station were having difficulty moving the existing steel trussed overhead crane system – to the point that it even caused operator injury. Unified Industries products helped address this issue.
A North American bus manufacturer wanted to automate their new vehicle model assembly to increase productivity while maintaining high quality standards. In order to achieve the increased throughput that is required, the company decided to install two identical monorail systems. Each 3-carrier monorail system was designed to move vehicle parts from an assembly conveyor onto the vehicle body that is located on an on-ground conveyor system.
